Volunteers are invited to sign up for Rake Up Meridian to help rake the yards of seniors and those with physical limitations.

The deadline to register is Oct. 27. Volunteers will get an address assignment and can rake the yard anytime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 19. Leaf bags will be available for pick up at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 4.

Rake Up Meridian is sponsored by the city of Meridian and Republic Services. Anyone who would like to volunteer or recommend someone who could use the help should contact Konrad McDannel at kcdannel@republicservices.com or 208-685-7748.

To qualify to have their yards raked, residents must:

  • Be over age 65 or unable to rake due to physical constraints
  • Live in Meridian city limits
  • Live at the residence to be raked

Volunteers are instructed to bring their own rake and gloves, and residents are asked to clear the yard of any pet waste.
