Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has appointed Tony Potts to fill the Idaho Senate vacancy created when Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis left to become U.S. Attorney for Idaho.

Potts, 40, is a property manager and salesman at Bish’s RV Supercenter in Idaho Falls. He has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Brigham Young University and is active as a local Boy Scouts leader.

Potts has been a Republican precinct committeeman and vice chairman of the District 33 legislative committee, as well as an unsuccessful candidate for the Bonneville County Commission.

Potts was among three nominees submitted to Otter by the District 33 committee to serve out the balance of Davis’s Senate term, which expires in December 2018. Also nominated were Bonneville County Republican Central Committee Chairman Mark Fuller and State Representative Bryan Zollinger, both of Idaho Falls.
