Roaring Springs Waterpark in Meridian will host the 17th annual Great Dolphin Dunk at noon Sunday.

The event raises money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County. This year's goal is $30,000, according to a press release from Roaring Springs.

Throughout the summer, toy dolphins have been for sale. At 12 p.m. Sunday, the roughly 10,000 dolphins will be dumped into the Endless River. The owners of the first dolphins across the finish line get the following prizes:

  • 1st place – Roaring Springs 2017-18 season passes for four
  • 2nd place – Free Idaho Pizza Company pizza for one year
  • 3rd place – $500 cash donated by Bent Nail Inspections

Boys & Girls Club members sold a record $14,500 worth of dolphins this year. Kids earned one free Roaring Springs ticket for every 25 dolphins they sold.

In the past 16 years, the Great Dolphin Dunk has raised over $820,000 in cash and in-kind donations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, according to Roaring Springs. The clubs serve over 4,000 kids in Garden City, Meridian, Kuna and Boise.

Roaring Springs is at 400 W. Overland Road in Meridian. Presenting sponsors of the Dolphin Dunk are D.L. Evans Bank and WinCo Foods and media sponsors are KTVB Channel 7 and 107.9 LITE FM.
